New CO pledges maximum support for Moyale
The new Commanding Officer for Moyale Barracks, Lieutenant Colonel ThokozaniChazema, has pledged full support to Moyale Barracks Football Club, also called the Lions of Kaning’ina.
Chazema, who is also former Team Manager for the club and Vice General Secretary for the Super league of Malawi (SULOM) said he would like to see the club develop more than before.
“I believe that a healthy soldier is one that also works hard in sports. As Commanding Officer for Moyale Barracks, I would like to see more progress in football and other disciplines than before.
“I look forward to a high performing Moyale Barracks Football Club. Sometimes we get discouraged by people in Mzuzu who don’t wish the team well. I would like to urge communities in Mzuzu to support Moyale Barracks Football Club because it is throughMoyale FC that they see teams like Bullets and Wanderers coming to Mzuzu,” remarked Chazema.
Moyale finished last season on position 6 with 42 points from 30 games under the tutelage of coach Collins Mkuna and his assistant Prichard Mwansa. Lloyd Njaliwa was the team’s captain.
Besides the football team, Moyale Barracks also has a netball team, a volleyball team and a women’s football team; all of which compete at national level.
