Nomads welcome ‘Shakira’, Kamanga with win
Mighty Wanderers were in good mettle on Sunday when they convincingly beat struggling Blue Eagles 3 – 0 at the Balaka stadium in their TNM second round assignment. The blues who finished on position 8 in the first round had maximum points in their mission to regain lost glory.
They turned on the heat in style on the Eagles through Idrissa Walesi, Cathbert Sineta and Nafe Msasa on their way to victory.
In this game, the Nomads also welcomed back Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo and Allan Kamanga who after being released by their respective South African clubs. Kamwendo was released by Orlando Pirates earlier this year and showed some class as a second half substitute.
Kamanga has been idle for sometime but started training with the Nomads in the first round waiting registration.
Wanderers team manager Mc Hodges Chunga hailed his boys for a wonderful performance saying they have turned the corner.
“We told the guys that we need to start the second round with victory so that we push up the ladder in the second round. Am happy also that we welcomed back our sons Joseph and Allan and we are hoping that they will help our course as they are looking for professional clubs elsewhere,” Chunga said.
This result means Blue Eagles return to the central region with no point after going down 1 – 0 to Zomba United on Saturday. Despite enjoying good sponsorship from the Malawi Police Service, the team continues to find the going tough with all the stars in their squad.
At the Kamuzu Stadium, Erdington Ng’onamo was handed a perfect start to his reign as Bullets FC coach as the ‘people’s team’ struggled to beat Embangweni United 1 – 0
United will go back to the northern region with no point from a possible 6. They lost to Blantyre United 4 – 1 on Saturday.
In Zomba, Moyale’s woes in the second round continued with yet another 3 – 2 defeat to Cobbe. Moyale who finished top of the table in the first round were beaten 3 – 2 on Saturday by Red Lions and were desperately looking for a point at least to save their pride but they will head back to the north with no point at all.
