OPC denies Ndilowe’s resignation claims

The spokesman for Office of President and Cabinet (OPC) has denied as fabrication reports that Chief Secretary Hawa Olga Ndilowe has resigned from her position.

On Tuesday Maravi Post which recently also claimed President Joyce Banda was going to announce her resignation at a news conference which later proved to be a hoax, reported that Ndilowe, tendered in her resignation to President Banda on Monday.

The report claimed Ndilowe’s resignation follows a disagreement in opinion with President Banda where she ordered OPC to close all government offices and send all civil servants on a two-week holiday in order to make some savings for the country.

But this was later rebuffed by the OPC’s spokesperson Aurther Chipenda.

“Mrs Hawa Ndilowe has not resigned from her position as Chief Secretary to the Government. She is still Chief Secretary to the Government,” Chipenda told Nyasa Times.

“The rumours making rounds are just that, rumours, with no single grain of truth,” he added.

State House also denied that Banda has received any resignation letter from the top civil servant.
