Pastor arrested for demanding closure of Banja La Mtsogolo clinic
Police in Nkhotakota district have arrested a self proclaimed Pastor after he demanded the immediate closure of Banja La Mtsogolo clinic Nkhotakota branch sayingthey are doing things contrary to Bible teachings.
Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Kaitano Lubrino confirmed the arrest of 30 year old Maison Gide Banda of Mtuwa village, Traditional Authority Mgabu in Chikhwawa district on October 8, 2012.
Police have charged Banda with conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
“On this day the suspect went to the clinic where he invited all the workers…demanded the closure of the hospital arguing they are serving the devil. He then ordered everybody out of the hospital. His unusual order prompted the workers to call for Police,” he said.
“Among other things, this self- claimed man of God has condemned some Christians who own private hospitals and all mission hospitals that are offering these services to stop immediately since the Bible restricts doing that,” the police publicist said.
The police publicist said the suspect said he started his ministry in 2005 in his area and has ministered in different places and districts like Zomba, Salima, Kasungu, Dwangwa and Nkhotakota.
He will appear before Nkhotakota First Grade Magistrate Court soon to answer the charge.
