Phalombe MP Amos Mailosi receives honorary degree
Peaceful Mind Foundation, an affiliate institution of the United Nation’s International Royal Academy, over the weekend decorated Member of Parliament (MP) for Phalombe East, Amos Mailosi with an honorary doctorate Degree in Psychology owed to his work in promoting good governance and development.
This is the second time that the institution has honored a Malawian Member of Parliament after it endowed MP for Mulanje West, Patricia Kaliati, with a similar degree in 2016.
Executive Director for Peaceful Mind Foundation, Nabhit Kapur said the organization appreciates the visionary leadership skills in Honorable Mailosi hence the decoration.
According to Kapur, the MP for Phalombe East, Mailosi, who serves on the Board of Trustees of Peaceful Mind Foundation had displayed good plans for his people in the areas of water and transportation where he is contacting Indian donors to assist him in order to transform his people’s lives.
“I have known Honorable Mailosi for eight months only, but through this period, he has proven to be a visionary leader who has the welfare of his people at heart; and coupled with the leadership skills he has displayed while discharging his duties as member of our board, I strongly recommended him for the award,” said Kapur who came from India to deliver the degree.
Alongside Mailosi’s degree, the Foundation also awarded Malawi Electoral Commission’s ex-commissioner, Reverend Dr. Chimkwita Phiri, with a Certificate in Mental Health; making him an Ambassador in mental health services in the country.
Commenting on the development, Mailosi said it is a great honor for him to be recognized by the United Nations through its affiliate as someone doing a commendable job for his country.
“In the whole August House, it is only me and Honorable Kaliati who have been recognized by this institution which has been closely scrutinizing our skills. This is very encouraging and this will motivate me to continue serving my people,” said Mailosi.
Meanwhile, the Foundation has invited Mailosi to India where among other things he will meet prospective donors to fund projects that he has outlined for his constituency.
Peaceful Mind Foundation is an International Psychology training and coaching institution based in India and it has establishments in over 30 countries across the world with over 5 African countries including Malawi.
