President Banda appoints Khumbo Kachali as VEEP
Malawian President Joyce Banda in exercising her powers in the Constitution has appointed MP for Mzimba South West Khumbo Kachali as vice president of the republic of Malawi.
According to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) aired on the state Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), the appointment is with immediate effect.

The statement says swearing in ceremony for the new vice president will be held on Friday at the Area 3 Mtunthama State House grounds in Lilongwe starting from 11am.
Kachali served as Minister in the late president Bingu wa Mutharika administartion but he was fired from the DPP party together with Her Excellency the President when they protested against Mutharika handing over power to his brother Peter.
