Prof Chris Kamlongera burial at Kamphata on Monday
Professor Chris Kamlongera of Chancellor College who died on Friday will be buried this Monday ar his home, Mlinda village, Kamphata in Lilongwe.
Spokesperson for the University of Malawi Peter Mitunda said Kamlongera died at Partners in Hope after a long battle of cancer.
Kamlongera compiled an anthology of Malawi literature that students studied at junior certificate level from 1998 to 2002.
The anthology boasts of mature stories like ‘A smile in the misty mirror, they will be done’ and plays like ‘rain maker and the banana free.
One of his students mourned him on social media, “he was an epitome of Chanco… The professor was an embodiment of the fine arts department.”
He was among the people who introduced first journalism school in the country, Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) and served as its first executive director.
