Pundit Nyirenda nicknames Chimodzi Jnr ‘Vaccum Cleaner’

Malawi’s veteran football pundit Charles Nyirenda has nicknamed Silver Strikers holding midfielder Young Chimodzi Junior as
‘Vacuum Cleaner’.

The pundit made the declaration inside Zodiak Radio’s Weekly Soccer Magazine Show on Monday evening.

Nyirenda,who has been in the football business for over four decades and once served as Malawi FA Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O), described Chimodzi Junior as a complete midfielder who can make or break things at an opportune time.

“Young Chimodzi Junior is just an amazing midfielder I have ever seen on the domestic league and his abilities cannot go without
recognition. He starts everything for Silver and also ends everything for the opposing side. Now call him Vaccum Cleaner,” said Nyirenda.

He rated the player highly by putting him in the ranks of some great footballers such as former Bafana Bafana midfielder Linda Buthelezi, Roy Kean of Manchester United and Patrick Vieira of Arsenal and France.

Most Malawian players have been given names of players who play in foreign leagues including English Barclays Premier League a
development which has received heavy criticism from soccer commentators.

For example, Nyasa Big Bullets Striker Chiukepo Msowoya was named after Nigerian star Yakubu Igbeni and Dalitso Sailesi is also
nicknamed ‘Di Maria’.

Apart from naming Chimodzi Junior ‘Vaccum Cleaner, Nyirenda is also the brain behind the nick naming of former Kaizer Chiefs and Flames International defender Patrick Mabedi as ‘General’.

He also nicknamed Nelson Kangunje formerly of Civo but now plays for Nyasa Big Bullets as ‘Silencer’ as well as former Mafco FC hitman Richard Mbulu who now plays his trade in Mozambique as ‘Bad News’.
