Ravi Rach hailed for Malawi netball development

Malawi netball world is commending Rach Family Trust for the ambitious K600 million  sponsorship to Netball Association of Malawi  (NAM) where the new sponsors offered to construct a K2 billion netball court.

NAM secretary general Carol Bapu said the sponsorship injection from Rach Family will go along way to take Malawi netball to higher level.

She said apart from sponsoring netball, Rach Family want to make the growing sport more professional and commercial in Malawi.

Bapu said the construction of the indoor netball court is separate from the K600 millionsponsorship that the trust signed with NAM .

“Rach Family is keen in transparency and accountability because there are stressing that the sponsorhsip should benefit the sport and players,” said Bapu.

Malawi netball players who spoke to Nyasa Times added their voices to commend Rachi Family.

Netball export and super star Mwayi Kumwenda said Rachi sponsorship is “life-line for netball development.”

“Rachi Family should be commended for the massive sponsorship. As players we have been motivated with the package,” Kumwenda.

Joyce Mvula, who is currenty with Manchester Thunders, said the sponsorship if “properly utilised” by administrators will improve the netball sport in Malawi.

“We should be even better in the next two years if the funds are properly used,” she said.

“But kudos to Rachi family,” she said.

Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development Henry Mussa said President Peter Muthatika was pleased with Rachi family for their rescue to netball after the withdraw of Airtel sponsorship.

Mussa said the construction of a modern indoor netba;; court has been on government’s plans for a long time, but the setback has been finances, saying with the coming in of Rachi Family land has already been identified and will soon be handed over to NAM.

“President Mutharika  is very keen about this project,” he said.

Rav Rach, chairperson of the Rach Family Trust,  said when he signed the contracy that they are coming in to help develop the game of netball.

Apart from sponsoring netball, Rach is involved in a lot of charitable activities in Malawi.

Their trust is registered in Malawi.
