Silver Strikers halts process of recruiting Peter Mponda as new coach: Fears he is still Bullets fan
Sponsors of Silver Strikers Football Club over the weekend halted the running
process of recruiting a new coach, Peter Mponda, because of several reasons some of which being his FCB Nyasa Bullets roots.
Inside sources have confided in Nyasatimes that it was a done deal over the weekend that Mponda was taking as Silver Strikers FC head coach following the firing of Pieter De Jongh.
“When everything was set for Mponda to sign, something popped up.That thing came from sponsors who said the process should not proceed. Sponsors need to have a conversation first with technical and board members on how they should move forward with the plan to recruit a new coach,” said one of Silver Strikers managers who spoke on strict condition of anonymity.
The source also added that Mponda’s FCB roots is also another source of discord within the Silver Strikers family.
“It is also claimed that some Silver fans don’t want Mponda as head coach as he is a FCB Nyasa Big Bullets legend,” he said.
When called, chief executive officer for Silver Strikers Patrick Chimimba refused to answer. Mponda too said he is not aware of everything.
