‘Sir’ Paul Banda, Ma Black’s to open new multi-million open theatre in Lumbadzi
Veteran lead guitarist and singer ‘Sir’ Paul Banda and the Black Missionaries will on Sunday, November 20 headline the opening of a milti-million B Square Open Theatre in Lumbadzi, Lilongwe.
Built a stone throw away from the Kamuzu International Airport, the open theatre boasts to be the first of its kind as it also comprises of a first aid and security rooms and a marquee with a 200 sitting capacity apart from a vast open space.
“It’s the first of its kind as we are interested to serve the interests of people from all kind and families. The open theatre will be up and running all year round as it will be covered during the rainy season,” said Managing Director Dr Benjamin Sambiri.
He told Nyasa Times that there will also be live performances from Skeffa Chimoto, Lula and Charles Nsaku who will also be launching his new album Nkhaza on the same day.
The show will be the first in Lumbadzi after some years due to non functionality of Tilipano Leisure Centre which was the hub of entertainment in the township.
“Lumbadzi residents like entertainment such that they always travel to the city whenever there is some live performances. With the opening of this theatre, they are now assured of unlimited entertainment right at their door steps. We are determined to give them quality entertainment and also maximum security. We want people to come with their families to enjoy, ” he said.
He added that “people shouldn’t worry about electricity black outs as there will be state of the art generator” on the stand by.
The show will start at 1pm and people will pay K3000 each at the door.
