Small aircraft crash-lands at Likoma Airport, all passengers survive
Electricity Generation Company (Egenco) officials and a pilot en-route to Likoma Island has made an emergency landing at Likoma Airport on Thursday morning.
Egenco spokesperson Moses Gwaza, who was on the plane said the plane was carrying two officials from Egenco, including him.
Gwaza said the pilot has sustained a cut above one of his eyes whilst himself and his colleague, Lyston Chauwa, an operations engineer sustained minor injuries.
He said the three were rushed to St. Peters Hospital for medical care.
The plane, 7Q-MTA belonging to Ulendo Links, was coming from Lilongwe and the pilot is said to have lost control when he was applying breaks.
The plane crash with Egenco officials on board come at a time when residents at Likoma have organised protests against prolonged power black-outs on the island.

Mr Reporter, more correctly your opening statement should have read ” Electricity Generation Company( Egenco) officials and a pilot has crash landed at Likoma Airport on Thursday Morning” But if you put a phrase ‘en-route to’ you are essentially portraying a different meaning altogether. The destination was Likoma; then en-route to the same? Search me! Those with semantics as their speciality school us please!
So the pilot skidded off the runway ??? Hey, tough but happens even to the big boys sometimes so cheer up. Any landing you walk away from is a safe landing !
Why on earth was the whole spokesperson in the plane? If the journey was by boat, would he have been in the boat? And by the way we have more problems at the main land than at the Island. These people were just enjoying a plane and the Gods are angry with this. Let them be marooned on the Island for 10 years.
So if the Spokesperson was involved in the accident, who will speak on his behalf?
The dead spokesperson who survived
Pro – longed blackouts.
Glory be to God
