The place called calvary
The Cross of Christ reveals to us the character of God. His love for the lost, and His Perfect justice meet at the cross. There is no greater love than what was displayed at the cross of Calvary that a righteous man laid down His life for His friends. His dying for the ungodly is a proof for love immeasurable.
At the place called Calvary is where our sins were erased, because Jesus took our place. There is indeed Amazing Grace at Calvary, where the Good Shepherd gave His life for the sheep. The Cross of Christ is the only thing standing between Man and eternal hell. Thank God for allowing His only Son to die for us, even when we were still sinners.
As we commemorate the Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, I thought it is good to just explain again what the death of Jesus Christ mean to us. As Paul put it in Romans 6:3 that; “Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death”; meaning that we are baptized into Christ, and when He died on the cross, We died with Him; In other words, He became our substitute, and our identification with Him therefore all our past transgression no longer exists for what is dead does not exists any more.
Romans 6:4 says that “Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death”; Meaning that we did not only die with Him, but we were buried with Him as well, which means that all the sin and transgression of the past were buried with Him; when they put Him in the Tomb, they put all our sins into the Tomb as well. “That like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life” meaning that His resurrection was our Resurrection to walk in newness of Life for those that believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior based on what was accomplished at the Cross of Calvary.
The Bible has a story of Nicodemus, who went to Jesus Christ by night and asked Him how a man can be born again when he is old. The term born again means that man has already had a natural birth, but now must have a spiritual birth, which comes by faith in Christ and what He has done for us at the cross.
Looking at the whole Bible, we will see that it is all about the story of Jesus Christ and His death at the cross of Calvary. This is evidenced by the many lambs that were being slaughtered on Passover that still could not take away sin of man. This is why God allowed His only son to come as the perfect sacrifice that accomplished to defeat Satan.
This great gift which was given at Calvary does not exclude anyone. The only requirement is to believe in what Jesus Christ did at the cross for us. There is no any other way to get to God apart from through the Cross because God is able to look at us through what was accomplished at the cross of Calvary. This is why the Cross of Christ is the means that everything is made possible to us.
As believers, we have every right to celebrate the death of Christ for this is what has brought victory and pay for the sin debt which man could not have paid in any way.
