Tight race in Masters Security Premier Division for Malawi flagship league berth
The race for qualification into Malawi’s top flight TNM Super League is very tight in the Premier Division sponsored by Masters Security with MDF Marine leading the 22-team league with just two points ahead of the runners-up Mitra Icons.
MDF Marine lead with 32 points from 15 matches while at second place, Mitra Icons, have 30 from 14 matches.
Former TNM Super League participants Nchalo United are third with 29 points from 17 games with another former side in the top flight league Blantyre United are 4th at 28 points from 15 games.
On 5th position are BNC Produsak with 27 points from 17 games with Cobbe Barracks and Chikwawa United tying on 26 points. However, Cobbe are 6th while Chikwawa are 7th because of goal difference.
Mitra have the chance of displacing MDF Marine since they have two games over the weekend — against Poly at the Polytechnic on Saturday and against Bvumbwe Research at Bvumbwe on Sunday while the leaders just have one fixture against Chikwawa United at home in Monkey Bay on Saturday.
Third-placed Nchalo United date Cobbe Barracks at Zomba Community Centre on Sunday.
