Tigresses in Rainbow Paints double win
First Choice Tigresses have intensified their mission to win the Rainbow Paints Blantyre and District Netball League title, registering two wins at weekend.
The Kanjedza based out-fit massacred Mchinjiri with 101-16 baskets in their first game before clipping Serenity Stars with 81-19 baskets.
Diamonds have their evergreen shooter Tendai Masamba to praise as she was outstanding in notching baskets.
She showed composure every time she possessed the ball around the shooting area.
Other notable players who caused havoc to Machinjiri and Serenity included Ellen Chibokho and Awema Chikaonda. Beatrice Mpinganjira as well who acts as the engine room for the team was also a marvel to watch.
In an interview with Nyasa Times, Beatrice Mpinganjira said: “These are the type of games that we need to win without fail, because at the end of the tournament, they also count.”
Mpinganjira said their team which has young and upcoming players is improving and hoping for better results and performances in games to come.
Machinjiri are finding the going very tough in the league as they have not registered any victory which they have played so far.
Serenity, who also lost to Tigresses conceded that they are finding it tough but assured their fans that second round, it will be a changed side.
In other encounters, Kukoma Diamonds won against Vicky Sisters with 113 -10 baskets, while Prison Sisters failed to ultilise home ground advantage as they went down 43-32 baskets to Tropical Queens.
The battle for points will resume on Saturday with Serenity Sisters to take on Chileka Sisters at noon, while First Choice Tigresses will host Prison Queens.
Kukoma Diamonds will lock horns against Tropical Queens in Blantyre derby.
