Tigresses piles more pressure on Diamonds, beat Serenity 68-33
The 2019 Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League second placed side First Choice Tigresses continues to pile more pressure on their rivals and current league leaders Kukoma Diamonds and keeps their title hopes alive after beating Serenity Stars 68-33 baskets on Sunday at Blantyre Youth Centre to register a second win in the second round of the league.
The Peace Chawinga Kalua charges, who have accumulated 22 points after playing 11 games, collected the needed maximum points over Serenity Stars in a must watch game after outclassing the Zingwangwa based outfit.
Chawinga Kalua, who is in the transitional process, made another deadly combination as she featured youthful and experienced players which included 18-year-old Cathy Khofi as well as Eve Kazembe who are jellying fast with their experienced stars such as Beatrice
Mpinganjira, Ellen Chibokho and Beauty Basiyao.
Tigresses which looked more organised were very unstoppable in all the quarters as they dominated the possession from the first whistle up to the end after an entertaining play.
Serenity Stars struggle to contain Tigresses a wave after wave attacking pressure especially at their centre which was controlled by Beatrice Mpinganjira who was in her top form as she engineered the centre with good ball distribution.
Serenity’s GK Rita Robert committed a lot of fouls in the box in the third and fourth quarter after failing to hold the pressure which made the umpires to award more penalties to Tigresses.
