Trust in Jesus Christ only
Confidence in man has always been our main problem. All this is because many believe by just belonging to a specific denomination or being close to a specific preacher guarantees their salvation which is not the case. “It is better to trust in then Lord than to put confidence in princes” (Psalm 118:9).
Imagine children in the house when they need something they go straight to the father and ask what they need. Every parent wants the best for their children that they make sure to give them what they need. It is the same with us, our father in heaven wants the best for us all and that is the only reason why God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to came and die on the Cross, to pardon us even though we don’t deserve it.
Why then have we decided to put our confidence in something else other than God? No matter how powerful a preacher is, that preacher did not die on the Cross to redeem us from our sins.
Our God knows our hearts therefore there is no pretense in the eyes of GOD. It is God’s desire that we should all know His true nature but it has not been possible in most cases because we are trusting in wrong things.
Preachers are just vessels and not to receive God’s worship. The bible makes it very clear that; “For you shall worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:14).
If you start worshipping preachers instead of God, you will eventually die spiritually without realizing. It does not matter whether we give a lot of money to the preachers or church, because it is not a requirement to be saved. God is interested in our soul. That is why we see that Jesus was the most humble servant from birth to the time that He was crucified, yet He performed the most and powerful miracles.
The good thing is that because of what Jesus did on the Cross, even though we have backslidden, God is waiting for us to get back to Him. He will receive us back because of His love, grace and mercy. Just as it was with the two thieves that were crucified with Jesus, one asked Jesus to remember Him in His Kingdom.
“And Jesus said unto Him, verily I say unto you, Today shall you be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:42-43). He was instantly saved which tells us that there is nothing special that we need to do but to realize that we are saved only because of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross.

Thanks Cindy, what you write is encouraging. When I was last in Malawi a few weeks ago, the greatest hindrance I found BY FAR was that people all know that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that He died on the cross to save us from our sins. But the problem was, they didn’t trust 100% in Jesus. They didn’t understand eternal security. so like, “believe on Jesus and be saved… but if you murder/steal/stop believing then you lose salvation and go to Hell”. That was the biggest thing we had to explain to them – once saved, always saved. Believing… Read more »
