UK appoints new deputy High Commissioner to Malawi
Britain has announced that Mr Martin Scales has been appointed the new Deputy British High Commissioner to Malawi in succession to Mr Kirk Hollingsworth who will be taking another senior diplomatic appointment in the Caribbean after four years of dedicated service in Malawi.
In remarks before departure Hollingsworth said “I am leaving Malawi with more than a tinge of sadness after spending 4 fantastic years here. I am happy to see UK Malawi relations firmly back on track given the recent past and I am proud to have played a contributory part in mending that relationship. I will always be an advocate for Malawi”.
Mr Scales took up his appointment on 28 July 2014 said: “I am delighted to be in Malawi and been deeply touched by the warm welcome I have received.
“I look forward to playing a positive part in strengthening the long standing relations between the UK and the people of Malawi”.
The new deputy high commissioner, Scales has previously served in Afghanistan, Gibraltar, Germany and Norway.
