Vocal Kapito out of parastatal board: Msonda, Undule sweetend with board posts
President Peter Mutharika has chucked out vocal Consumers Association of Malawi (Cama) executive director John Kapito from Southern Region Water Board and replaced him with labour activist Luther Mambala as chairman of the board.
This was announced on Monday when new boards for three parastatals were announced.
These three are in addition to the boards of directors announced last week for 19 parastatals.
Former Peoples Party publicist Ken Msonda, who defected to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has been sweetened with a membership of the board of Public Private Partnership.
Soon after the announcement, Msonda was on Facebook thanking Mutharika for the appointment.
However some people, in their comments, wondered the wisdom of rewarding “political opportunists” leaving out die hard supporters of the party.
Human rights activists Undule Mwakasungula and Boniface Masa are among the new board of directors appointed by President Mutharika.
Mwakasungula and Masa are board members for SMEDI together with DPP’s Ngozi Harawa, Winnie Gondwe, Ronald Likomwa, Traditional Authority Maone, Judith Ngwira, Bertha Nachuma, Francis Ndende, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, Dennis Wachepa while some ministries are ex-officio members.
