Youth body bemoans all ministers are above 35-years-old

A youth body has launched a blistering attack on President Peter Mutharika for hiring a 24-member cabinet excluding the youth.

Kajoloweka: Blames Mutharika
for youth exclusion in cabinet

Charles Kajoloweka of Youth Decide said all the 24 members of the cabinet are above 35-years-old.

“We are very disappointed with the cabinet. In this era, we expected a cabinet with youth representation. After all, 54 per cent of those who voted are the youth,” said Kajoloweka.

He said his organization would continue to pressure Mutharika to consider appointing the youth in his cabinet.

Minister of Youth, Sports, Labour and Manpower Development is Francis Phisso, a Blantyre north legislator who is in his mid 40s.

The new cabinet was sworn in on Thursday amid concerns of tribalism and regionalism as only two cabinet ministers are from the centre, three from the north and 13 from the south.

Some children make babies at the age of 13 years. Some youth make money at age 18. Some adults use tippex to be presidents. I am still dreaming about the Zephyr motor car we drove in 1972.

Could it be it is exactly for the way you are thinking that some if not most so called youth cannot be entrusted with sensitive position? Is it including youth for the sake of it? How old is Chilima? How old is Chakwela? Was it not a popular saying that Chilima is youthful? Is he not above 35 yrs? Why then the change in age cutt-off for youthfulness?
