Roscher Youth Development Centre- a local non-governmental organization based in Rumphi has constructed a school block at Mayembe Junior Primary school worth over K1 million.
Speaking in an interview with Nyasa Times, Roscher Youth Development Centre Executive Director Moir Walita said improving the delivery of quality education was a responsibility for all meaning Malawians.
Walita said education was key to the socio development of the country hence the need for communities and stakeholders to make every effort that children have a conducive learning environment.
He said the school block, constructed with financial assistance from the Support Malawi Organization of Germany will go a long way in contributing towards the attainment of quality education.
”Education is a human right but this can only be achieved if our children have a conducive learning environment with quality infrastructure and teaching and learning aids,” said Walita.
Mayembe Junior Primary school Headteacher Washington Munthali commended Rosher Youth Development Centre for the support.
He said the school has one well floored and iron roofed school block.
It runs classes from standards one to four, meaning other pupils learn learn in muddy and grass thatched school blocks.
According to Munthali, Mayembe Junior Primary school has 150 pupils. 81 boys and 69 girls.
The school was opened in 2014.
This is commendable. Youth woyee.
My advice as a Malawian who has seen roofs blown off: the roof structure is not good enough. Please fortify it to withstand the elements. Keep it up
