Zodiak reporter detained over Mutharika report
A journalist for a privately owned Zodiak radio was Thursday night briefly detained and cautioned by police inside Kamuzu Central Hospital premises after he was found filing reports of President Bingu was Mutharika who had collapsed after a cardiac arrest.
The reporter Norman Fulatira had hidden inside the premises after the security forces had ordered out all journalists and other onlookers.
According to him three senior police officials apprehended while he was sending a live report to Zodiak radio.
He was questioned about his presence inside the hospital premises before being ordered out.
Police deployed in force across the capital, especially near the hospital.
